The Guidance Center Gala Raises $250,000 for Child and Family Services in Cambridge, Somerville, and Surrounding Communities

Cambridge, MA – On Friday night, April 8, The Guidance Center celebrated – with many old and new friends of the organization – the children and families it serves in Cambridge, Somerville and surrounding communities. The Guidance Center Gala raised $250,000! Proceeds from the annual event make The Guidance Center’s mental healthcare, early childhood programs, and family support services possible.

Jennifer Simons, told the story of her family’s journey to help their little girl Mirabelle, who was born 12 weeks premature. The family received support from The Guidance Center’s Early Intervention program, which helps children – newborn to age three – and their families manage a broad range of needs, including speech delays, trouble walking, or complex medical problems. Jennifer said, “I am here tonight because The Guidance Center has helped our family so profoundly and it is important to us that other families are able to benefit as we have, to get the support they need, and to know that their child will benefit immensely, as ours did.”

The evening featured a cocktail reception, a silent auction, dinner, an inspiring program, a live auction, and dancing! Guests heard remarks by the Gala co-chairs; Scott M. Bock, Founder and President/CEO of Riverside Community Care; Shannon Sorenson, Vice-President of Child and Family Services for Riverside; and auctioneer Stuart Whitehurst (many know him from Antiques Roadshow). The event would not have been possible without the leadership of its co-chairs, Ed Feijo, Lauren Harder, and Gail Roberts, the Gala Committee, and The Guidance Center community who so generously supported the event!
