For young people who are struggling with a variety of mental or behavioral health issues, Riverside offers a variety of counseling for children and their families. Our Outpatient Centers offer comprehensive mental health services in comfortable and professional settings. When more intensive services are needed, we also have a team that can provide therapy for children and families in the child’s home.
Whether it’s a young woman struggling with depression, a teenager experiencing suicidal thoughts, or a family having difficulty with a child’s social interactions, our outpatient centers provide the assistance needed. We offer Outpatient counseling for children and families at locations in Dedham, Lynnfield, Newton, Norwood, Upton, Cambridge, and Somerville.
Family is at the Center of Our Work
Meeting a family’s needs can become stressful when a child experiences symptoms of mental health issues, behavioral or social problems. Our clinicians are caring and empathetic experts in a broad range of issues that a child or their family may experience. We encourage family participation in most cases to broaden the understanding and encourage healing of the entire family unit.
Our clinicians have extensive experience in many areas. They understand that when your child hurts, so does the entire family. We will work with your family as a whole to provide new strategies and techniques to help you cope with whatever the issues may be. Riverside Outpatient Centers offer individual, group, and in-home therapy. When appropriate and combined with counseling, medication can also be an integral part of the therapeutic process. Our prescribers can help families navigate this process with a unified and integrated treatment plan.
Our areas of expertise include (but are not limited to):
- Suicidal Thoughts/Self Harm
- Behavioral Issues
- School Refusal
- Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Abuse Issues
- Grief Support
We are pleased that Riverside is now offering Telehealth services. Your child and a Riverside clinician can participate in virtual therapy or psychiatry appointments using secure, easy-to-use video-conferencing technology. There are many benefits to this type of therapy (flexibility, comfort, reduces transportation issues) and results have been proven to be comparable to in-person therapy. Watch the video to see if it might be a good fit for your family.
Insurance and Payment
We accept a broad array of public and private insurance including most insurance and Managed Care coverage, Medicaid and Medicare. Please contact our Riverside Outpatient Centers for more information on payment and therapy.
Our goal, whenever possible, is to help families avoid hospitalization or an emergency room visit. If you feel that your child needs immediate psychiatric attention, Riverside does offer Emergency Services south and west of Boston, in Southbridge, Milford and the surrounding areas.
