Clubhouse Recognizes 26 Years of Dual Recovery Anonymous

New England’s First Dual Recovery Anonymous Group Recognizes 26 Years

This month Riverside’s Crossroads Clubhouse recognized 26 years of hosting their Dual Recovery Anonymous group. The group, It’s About Time, is the oldest established and running Dual Recovery Anonymous group in New England.

It is estimated that 60% of people with a mental illness also have an underlying substance use issue. Individuals often turn to substances as a way to self-medicate and address symptoms of emotional distress. Our Clubhouses provide education and support to members around these issues in the form of Dual Recovery Anonymous – a non-professional twelve step self-help program.

These meetings are open to anyone who is concerned about their personal recovery. Dual Recovery Anonymous helps individuals to learn alternative ways to manage difficulties through connection, support, education, and mutual understanding. The program also helps to prevent relapse, and to carry the message of dual recovery to others affected by both chemical dependency and an emotional or psychiatric illness.

Clubhouses are employment and recovery centers that offer people with mental health conditions hope and opportunities to achieve their full potential. Riverside’s four Clubhouses host Dual Recovery Anonymous groups throughout the week.  Each Clubhouse has a different schedule; please check out their websites for more detailed information. You do not need to be a member of the clubhouse to attend Dual Recovery Anonymous meetings.
