Participants will explore the definitions and the dimensions of culture/diversity and appreciate how these serve as filters and shape their behaviors as leaders. This session will also provide an overview of non-discrimination laws enforced by EEOC makes it unlawful for Federal agencies to discriminate against employees and job applicants on the bases of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or age. Specific topics in this workshop include: Understanding and Avoiding Discrimination: HR Laws Establishing a Diverse and Inclusive Culture Integrating Diversity: Talent Acquisition Best Practices Implementing Inclusion: Valuing Differences Navigating Change LeadershipLeadership Diversity Competencies;What you should be doing as a learderLeadership competencies are skills and behaviors that contribute to superior performance in the workplace. Diversity and Inclusion should be considered foundational for your leadership competency. This workshop will review six leader diversity competencies and help managers identify ways to lead with the Platinum Rule. You will also learn to appreciate how our own preferences, values, and backgrounds can help or hinder your effectiveness in communicating and working across cultural differences. You will gain a better understand of your role as leaders to create a diverse and inclusive culture; reducing negativity and fostering greater engagement and teamwork in the workplace.
