SOS Signs of Suicide — a service of Riverside Community Care — is conducting groundbreaking research on men’s mental health in high-risk industries, thanks to a generous grant from men’s care company Harry’s. As that work continues, Riverside is spotlighting one of SOS’s most impactful partnerships.

Since 2016, Riverside Trauma Center and SOS Signs of Suicide have teamed with the Fishing Partnership to support the behavioral health of commercial fishermen. Commercial fishing is one of the most hazardous occupations in the United States, with a fatality rate 29 times the national average. Fishermen also face heightened vulnerability to mental health challenges, driven by long hours at sea, chronic stress, and prolonged separation from their families.
