Our Community Service Agency’s 4th Anniversary

As our Community Service Agencies (CSA) mark their 4th anniversary, I would like to share a great success story with you.

When John was first referred to CSA by a therapist, he had been hospitalized multiple times, was using substances, refusing to go to school and had stopped listening to his family. His parents were overwhelmed and ready to give up. Our Intensive Care Coordinator and Family Partner worked with John and his family to recognize their strengths, hone in on their needs, and built a coordinated plan of action around them to empower the family and renew hope. John not only returned to school, but was asked to make a speech at his high school graduation! The Family Partner was invited to attend and as John walked across the stage, the parents turned to her and said, “We’re here because of you.”

CSA provides Intensive Care Coordination and Family Support and Training Services through the Children’s Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI), which was developed to provide more coordinated, community based behavioral health services for children in need. They work with families to help prevent unnecessary hospitalizations and out of home placements by working with them within their community. So far these services have helped over 125 families this year, with 92% of them reporting that their voice is prioritized in our services (beating the state average of 85%)!
