Thursday, April 11, 2013 was The Guidance Center’s night to shine at its tenth annual Celebrating Families Gala at The Charles Hotel in Cambridge. Through live and silent auctions, sponsorships and ticket sales, the event raised over $270,000 for children and families in Cambridge and Somerville.
The Guidance Center was honored to have Victoria Reggie Kennedy as the Gala keynote speaker. Guests then had the privilege to hear from Kelley Lane, whose children are clients in several Guidance Center programs including the Family After School and Preschool programs. Ms. Lane and her husband have been foster parents to 41 children and are in the process of adopting five children. She credits The Guidance Center staff for making it possible for her to ensure the healthy development of her children.
Eric Lander, President and Director of The Broad Institute, was our celebrity auctioneer. With great style, he led an impassioned live auction of items including three African safari trips, a day of luxury at The Charles Hotel’s Corbu Spa and Noir restaurant and a tour of The Broad Institute’s Human Genome Project…led by Eric Lander!
We would like to thank our speakers, sponsors, auction donors and bidders who came together to Celebrate Families with The Guidance Center.
Special thanks to our Guidance Center and Riverside Community Care staff volunteers and Board members who helped make this event such a huge success! Thank you also to Lolo Event Design for making our tenth annual gala shine!
