Riverside has signed the SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) Wellness Pledge which states that Riverside will work to address all of the aspects of the lives of the people we serve in the hope of increasing life expectancy of our clients by 10 years in the next 10 years. We have joined approximately 3000 other organizations in signing the Pledge for Wellness.
“In order to achieve this goal we ran a contest to come up with an organization-wide project that would involve both clients and staff. The winning contest entry was the suggestion to walk to better health.” explained Kathy Janssen, RN, Director of Quality Management and Chair of the Wellness Committe. “So we “choose up sides” and pulled together 25 teams that included almost 600 clients and staff, put on pedometers and started walking!”
Riverside is now at the end of the first month and our teams have already walked over 17,000 miles! As an organization, we are healthier already!
