Riverside is excited to introduce Empowered Beginnings, a free 10-week mental health support group for individuals who are pregnant or in their first year postpartum.

The program offers flexible attendance options to accommodate participants’ schedules, including virtual meetings and in-person sessions at 176 West Street in Milford. Led by a team of mental health specialists, including a licensed counselor, peer specialist, psychiatric nurse practitioner, and healthcare quality director, the group covers topics ranging from perinatal mood and anxiety disorders to self-care strategies and building support networks.

“The journey into parenthood isn’t always what we expect,” said Hillary Rioux, a licensed mental health counselor with certification in perinatal mental health who co-facilitates the group. “But no matter what you’re experiencing, we can offer the resources and guidance needed to successfully navigate this transformative time in your life.”

Participants are welcome to bring their babies to sessions, and refreshments are provided at in-person meetings. The program emphasizes cultural sensitivity and welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds.
