That means closing a long-standing gap in care by reaching out to populations that have always been underservedRiversides Milford and Norwood Outpatient Centers have been designated COMMUNITYBEHAVIORAL HEALTH CENTERS (CBHCs) as part of the Commonwealths new model of carefor timely and flexible treatment of mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders.CBHCs are a crucial component of the Roadmap for Behavioral Health Reform, a multi-year blueprint published by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services to streamline access and strengthen delivery of mental health and substance use treatment for MassHealth members. The program wraps routine and urgent outpatient services as well as crisis care for childrenand adults into one program with a single entry point.To reach people involved with the justice system who could benefit from mental health and substance use treatment, Riverside received a five-year $1.4 million grant through a new program affiliated with the Norfolk County criminaljustice system, MASSHEALTH BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SUPPORTS FORJUSTICE-INVOLVED INDIVIDUALS.With increasing insight into therelationship between mental health, substance use, and incarceration,the goals are to engage justice-involved individuals with mentalhealth and substance use challenges, connect them to servicesthat can bolster the odds of success back out in thecommunity, and improve health outcomes.3'
