Anais overcame daunting obstacles and an abusive past to flourish as a community leader helping to improve womens and childrens lives.She came to Riverside through our High-Risk Assessment and Response Team. From day one,she eagerly engaged in individual and group therapy for domestic violence survivors and worked Gala chairs (L to R)diligently with clinicians to construct her personal safety and support plans.Cathy Fullerton, Scott Furlong, and Cecile GarcinThis amazing mom now serves other survivors of domestic violence by cultivating safe spaces for them to heal, find support, and celebrate their successes. She founded a social group for single moms to help them forget their struggles for a while and just enjoy themselves. She also develops after-school childrens programs for the Moses Youth Center in Cambridge, infusing activitieswith her experience and compassion. Even as she continues negotiating difficult matters in court(accompanied by her Riverside clinician, Shavon), Anais is determined to share what she haslearned and continues to support her community and the young queens interning at theMoses Youth Center.A mother, a survivor, and a Dominican immigrant who came to the US as a youth, Anais is a sterling example of all that is possible with drive and determination. 6 Riversides Cambridge Arlington Belmont High-Risk Assessment and Response Team focuses on reducing and7preventing domestic violence homicides by helping people formulate crisis intervention plans and by forging strong relationships among the police, the courts, and community providers.'
