Biographies of Senior Management of
Riverside Community Care
Executive Management Team Marsha Medalie, LICSW, ACSW, Executive Vice President, has nearly thirty years of experience in healthcare and human services. She joined senior management at Riverside Community Care in 1995, having been the CEO of one of Riverside’s predecessor organizations. Earlier, she was Clinical and then Executive Director of a mental health agency in the Brockton area for many years. Marsha has served on the Board of Directors of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Corporations of Massachusetts and on the advisory committees of managed care organizations and the state’s Medicaid managed care contractor. She has also consulted extensively with providers in other states. She oversees all aspects of Riverside's service delivery. Debra Blair , M.B.A., CMA, Vice President/Chief Financial Officer, has over 15 years of experience in not-for-profit finance and accounting. Prior to working at Riverside, she was the Director of Finance for a large behavioral healthcare provider. Deb holds an M.B.A. from the University of Massachusetts and a B.A. in business management from Curry College. She is a Certified Management Accountant. At Riverside, she is responsible for the overall management and direction of all aspects of the organization’s financial operations, information technology, central office administration, capital purchasing, and facilities management Nancy Meegan, M.A., Vice President, Human Resources and Staff Development, has over 25 years of management experience in Human Services and has been with Riverside since 1991. Prior to joining Riverside, she worked as a Manager for the Department of Mental Health and as a private consultant to a number of human service providers. Nancy is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources and Staff Development, including benefits administration, recruitment, employee relations, HR data management, health and safety, and training. In addition, she is responsible for consulting to staff and programs on non-HR legal issues related to consumer confidentiality. She also oversees Riverside’s Community Education Program. Senior Managers Ruth Antonucci, M.A., C.A.G.S., Associate Division Director for Developmental and Cognitive Disabilities, has over twenty-five years of experience in human services, most of it in management positions in community-based non-profit organizations. Prior to joining Riverside, she worked as Director of Employment Services and MIS Director at agencies serving individuals with developmental disabilities in central and eastern Massachusetts. In addition, she acted as a Clinical Systems Consultant to a national human services organization. In her role, Ruth is responsible for monitoring and overseeing residential services for individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities, including managing and supporting personnel, assisting with program development and ensuring quality of services. Borja Alvarez de Toledo, M.Ed., Division Director for the Child and Family Services Division, started working in Intensive Home Based programs 20 years ago after graduating from Boston University. He joined the Guidance Center in 1998 where he was promoted to various management positions, most recently serving as the Vice President of Operations. At Riverside, Borja oversees all aspects of this newly created Division that includes Guidance Center services, and other youth and family programs such as Early Intervention, Community Service Agencies, and child/adolescent day and educational programs. Dallas Gulley, LICSW, Associate Division Director for the Behavioral Health Services Division, has 30 years of experience in direct clinical care, teaching, and management in behavioral health, academic and human service settings. Prior to joining Riverside, he spent 10 years as a senior manager at the largest community behavioral health organization in Rhode Island. As the Associate Division Director at Riverside, Dallas directly manages all Day Treatment and Partial Hospital Program services and, with the Division Director and other Associate Division Director, oversees the clinical operations and quality of care across all division programs. Don Hughes, MSW, LICSW, Associate Division Director for Clubhouse & Employment Services for the Community Living Services Division, has been with Riverside Community Care for over 25 years. In his current role, Don is responsible for overseeing the management of Riverside's Clubhouses as well as providing direction to the employment and education services offered through Riverside's CBFS Teams. He also serves as the Project Manager of the Central Mass Employment Collaborative. Don is the Vice-President of the Board of Directors of Newton Community Development Foundation and is very active in the Massachusetts Clubhouse Coalition. He has been asked to present at numerous national clubhouse conferences. Alan Jacobson, Psy.D. Licensed Psychologist, Associate Division Director for the Behavioral Health Services Division, has 20 years of direct care and management experience in emergency service, urgent care, educational and outpatient settings. Prior to joining Riverside, Alan spent 3 years managing the Child and Family Division at the largest community behavioral health organization in Rhode Island and, before that, 12 years managing a range of behavioral health services in southeastern Massachusetts. As the Associate Division Director at Riverside, Alan directly manages Emergency Service, Crisis Stabilization, and Urgent Care services and, with the Division Director and other Associate Division Director, oversees the clinical operations and quality of care across all division programs. Jon Jaffe, LICSW, Division Director for the Behavioral Health Services Division, has worked at Riverside since 2002. Jon has 30 years of experience in mental health and human services. For the last 20 years, Jon has held senior management positions in a range of settings, including for-profit (overseeing operations in managed care and national employee assistance programs), start-up, and in nonprofit community mental health. He has also consulted to community health and human service organizations. Jon began his career as a clinician, then clinical supervisor and trainer. Here at Riverside as Division Director, Jon oversees the clinical and financial operations of all the agency’s outpatient clinics, emergency services, wrap around services for youth, and adult day treatment programs. Kathleen Janssen, RN, MS, Director of Quality Management, has over 30 years experience as a nurse and healthcare manager. Prior to joining Riverside in 2001, she worked in a wide variety of healthcare and behavioral health settings and as a consultant. Kathy oversees all aspects of the organization’s quality management efforts, including: the Human Rights, Consumer Complaint, Outcome Management, Satisfaction Survey, Incident Reporting and Investigations, and annual Goals and Objectives systems. She is also responsible for the Compliance Program, ADA Plan, and maintaining a system of policy development to keep the organization in compliance with all applicable regulations and laws. William Maddix, Division Director for the Community Living Services Division has over 35 years experience in providing community-based mental health services. He has been with Riverside over 25 years in a variety of clinical and management roles. Division Director since 1994, he oversees all aspects of a division employing over 200 staff, which provides integrated rehabilitation, housing and support services through a network of community-based, multidisciplinary teams and Clubhouse and employment services to more than 1000 individuals each year. Cecilia Reece, LICSW, Director of Special Projects, has more than 25 years of management experience in community mental health in Massachusetts and Maine, including 13 with Riverside. In her present position, she provides input and advice on strategic organizational planning and practices, participates in new service development, provides program analysis, and develops and maintains relationships with academic institutions. Loren Singer, M.A., is the Division Director for the Developmental & Cognitive Disabilities Division. Loren comes to Riverside with over 15 years of experience managing programs for individuals with special needs in both Massachusetts and New York. In her role as Division Director, Loren oversees the operation of all residential programs for individuals with developmental disabilities and traumatic head injury. Additionally she oversees the Individual and Family Support, Specialized Home Care and Supportive Living programs. Elizabeth Whitney, MSW, LICSW, Clinical Director for Riverside’s Community Living Services Division has worked for Riverside since 1996. Elizabeth provides direction for all aspects of clinical services within the division and is responsible for program development and staff training. She has a special interest in work with trauma survivors and the creation and implementation of initiatives to promote mental health recovery. Additionally, she chairs Riverside’s Risk Management Team. Elizabeth serves on DMH committees focused on improving the system of care and on the CBFS Program Committee of the Association of Behavioral Healthcare. Elizabeth is also on the board of the Massachusetts Chapter of the United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (USPRA). She has worked in the mental health field for over 25 years, much of that time in a variety of community-based settings with adults diagnosed with mental illness. Katie Wood, Director of Development and Marketing, has 10 years of fundraising experience developing and facilitating individual and corporate giving plans, grants management, event planning and execution and Board management. Katie worked at The Guidance Center for five years before joining the Senior Leadership Team at Riverside. In this position, Katie manages all development and marketing activities, including the annual fund, Celebrating Families Gala, Blue Jean Ball, major gift planning, capital giving, corporate and foundation relations, public relations, preparation of marketing materials, as well as donor relations. Charlene Zuffante, LICSW, Associate Division Director of Child and Family Services, has 15 years of experience providing and developing programs around family preservation and home-based treatment. Her experience includes five years as the Division Director for Intensive Family Services at The Guidance Center. In her current position, Charlene oversees children and youth services, including outpatient programs, after school programs, intensive family services and Children's Behavioral Health Initiative (CBHI) programs. |
