Tom Hall Helps out on Brain Injury Certification in the UK

Tom Brain Injury Certification GuideRiverside’s own Tom Hall announced the completion of the Brain Injury Specialist Certification (CBIS) program in the United Kingdom. The certification program provides training to frontline staff and professionals who work with individuals with an acquired brain injury in the UK.

Hall is the Assistant Vice President for Clinical Services for Riverside Community Care in the Developmental and Cognitive Services division. He has worked for 30 years in the field of applied behavior analysis, including 25 years with individuals recovering from brain injury.

Hall serves as the Chair of the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists’ International Committee. This committee, in collaboration with the UK’s Transitional Rehab Unit, and the Brain Injury Association of America, designed the training program and the UK Essential Brain Injury Guide.

The Transitional Rehab Unit (TRU) is a specialized rehabilitation facility for people with an Acquired Brain Injury. TRU provides a full pathway of active rehabilitation, pre-community re-entry, supported living, and community reintegration.

Hall said, “This training curriculum, which contains the UK Essential Brain Injury Guide and course examination, was an especially challenging project. It applies to the care systems of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England. Hundreds of hours provided by dozens of volunteer professionals went into the multi-year venture.”

Hall is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist Trainer and has presented at numerous conferences. He provides ongoing training to Riverside Development and Cognitive Services staff including brain injury certification through the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists.
