Trauma Center’s Suicide Assessment Continuing Education Improves Professional Practice

An article published in the Journal of Teaching in Social Work cites the positive benefits of continuing education for behavioral health professionals when discussing suicide and suicidal thoughts and behaviors with clients.  The article, “Changes in Practice Following a Continuing Education Training on Suicide Assessment and Intervention: Training Participants’ Perspectives” looks at the use of best practices to assess, manage and intervene with clients who express suicidal thoughts and behaviors, and the importance of continuing education in these efforts.  Over 90% of clinicians reported they are changing their practices and gained increased confidence in working with people at risk of suicide after the training.
